Transgender Awareness Week lands amid quite the shakeup of things this year. I am left to wonder if it will be legal next year.
Transgender Day of Remembrance next week will arrive in equally fraught times.
I don’t know what to say. My guess is you’ll understand why.
After an escalation of anti-trans advertising, commentary, disinformation and misinformation, awareness of the truth about us is more important than ever. Toward that end, I once again offer a link to guidance from the Trans Journalists Association.
You don’t have to be trans or a journalist to learn so much from that website and its links. In learning how to talk and write about us, you can learn about us from us, not from people who want to see us go away.
I am still recovering from a lot of things and not nearly at 100 percent. I’m a little more than halfway through a two-week emergency break from work to nurture good health and assess my future and my safety. This is going to be a long, hard road.
Please help us fight these powerful forces aligned against us. Along with all the other truth about the untruths being told about us, of note is that we are a convenient distraction from the damage being done and being planned.
Be safe. Protect yourself.
Sending love.
