What I think of every time someone with main-character syndrome complains

They are almost always white, straight, male, cisgender, Christian and to the right of center. There are plenty of them in the center and to the left of it, though.

And when they complain about “identity” and “identity politics,” this is what I think about.

Well, I think about more than that, but jammyjim nails it.

These are the people who will mostly be fine regardless. They are not fine when they are asked to consider the plight or freedoms of those not like them.

Ask me, a transgender woman, how I know.

Ask my friends in the LGBTQIA+ community how we know.

And if you’re confused: lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual and all other identities and allies who are part of the community (including pansexual, agender, aromantic, nonbinary and genderfluid).
