Someone else’s job news today brought back so many memories of the frantic rush to beat deadline

I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on my career. The news that Adrian Wojnarowski is leaving ESPN for a job at St. Bonaventure University brought up even more memories.

Gosh, the stories I could tell. The stories all of us of a certain generation and older could tell. Maybe someday soon. How we ever got our stories into the hands and onto the breakfast tables of our readers is sometimes beyond my ability to comprehend. It pretty much never involved coffee at a garden table during a gorgeous sunrise or sunset, or in the gloaming.

My congratulations go out to anyone who is able to leave on their own terms. Good luck, Woj.
