I’d planned to say just two words, I voted, but things are scary here, hence the longer subject line for this post.
Recent attacks and arsons on local ballot boxes prompted the county to call for 24/7 observers on every drop box. An officer sat in a parked patrol car next to my usual ballot box downtown this morning as I dropped in my choices.
If you know me at all, you can probably guess them.
I took a photo of my completed ballot before sealing the envelope. Now I wait.
Wait to see if the ballot makes it to the elections office and gets counted. Wait to see if I can exhale.
Voting early gives me time to fill out another ballot if mine is lost or destroyed. That’s never happened in my 14 years of voting by drop box or mail here in the Pacific Northwest.
No sticker this time, but here is the one I peeled off the roll and put on my wall calendar four years ago after voting by mail.
