Sure, yoga on the beach would be great, but what else can you do if you’ve been fretting about an approaching outcome, all the while doomscrolling and unable to focus? (You can’t imagine why I’d think this is necessary today, right? Trust me.) This is good stuff on any day, but especially today. And tomorrow. And the day after. And the one after that.
For everyone worried about the election, here are some tips from me, a Buddhist:
1. Focus on the literal present. Election isn’t till tomorrow and results will take longer.
So if you’re not thinking about this second, start listing the items in the room. And ask yourself 1/5

3. Be mindful of your thoughts and body.
Ask yourself “what am I feeling? What am I thinking?”
If you’re feeling stress or thinking about the future, first imagine that thought floating away like a bubble.
Then do one of the tasks that makes you happy or keeps you busy 3/5

So as often as you can, remember the truth that is your immediate present.
Be mindful and if you find yourself in an illusion, think of something that makes you happy and do a physical and easy task to help your mind let go.
You can get through this. You have before. 🥰

Mindfulness is a big part of it. So much of our daily lives is antithetical to being mindful, so it’s good to be able to disengage from time to time. Especially at this time.
You can get through this. You have before.
