Don’t forget to ‘fall back’ tonight

Published November 2, 2024

Here’s your friendly reminder that we turn back the clock overnight as daylight saving time ends and we revert to standard time. Except in places where they never change.

I’m not sure the shaded area in the clock on the right is where I’d have put it, but you get the idea.

The bottom line, I think, is that when we hit 2 a.m. here, we’ll go back to 1 a.m. and repeat that hour. I think that’s how it works.

There are hours I’d love to repeat. There are hours, even years, I’ll never get back.

Le sigh.

Most electronic timepieces adjust automatically now, which for me takes the fun out of it. Thank goodness I still have a few clocks I’ll have to manually change.

Anyway, if you show up an hour early for something tomorrow, this could be why.
